Why It's Needed

  • Smoky clothes and hair annoy nearly 90 percent of Americans

Love at First Smell

Keeping the flames of passion burning

  • Scents play such a crucial role in romance that the saying "love at first sight" may more accurately be "love at first smell."
  • The sense of smell, more than any other sense, sets in motion the strongest emotional responses and memories - including romantic attraction. In fact, the area of the brain responsible for perceiving aromas is interconnected with the area that processes emotions.

Up in Smoke

But cuddling up to someone who smells like an ashtray doesn't evoke positive emotions. Smoky clothes and hair can extinguish the flames of passion. Many people consider tobacco smoke odor a romantic deterrent, especially when it comes time to dim the lights. "Whether you smoke or not, smelling of smoke can be a real turn-off," says Kailen Andrews, an independent professional matchmaker.

BANISH™ personal smoke deodorizer helps keep the flames of passion burning.

Heartbreaking Stats

Statistics from the BANISH Smoke Odor Survey show that:

  • 44 percent of Americans have tried to avoid physical contact with a person who smelled of tobacco smoke because of the odor.
  • 24 percent have turned down a date because an admirer smelled of smoke.
  • 21 percent have ended or considered ending a romantic relationship because their partner often smelled of smoke.
  • 48 percent of Americans are bothered in a romantic situation if their clothes or hair smell of smoke.
  • Similarly, 40 percent of Americans are bothered in a romantic situation if their date or partner's clothes or hair smells of smoke.

Romance and Aroma

Some facts on the connection between aroma and romance:

  • An old American courtship custom included a man keeping a handkerchief under his armpit while dancing, which he would present to his partner after the dance. This supposedly had an aphrodisiac effect.
  • Kissing distributes pheromones that give clues about one's health, and hormonal and genetic make-up.
  • Musk, one of the most popular perfume smells, has been shown to closely resemble the scent of the male sex hormone testosterone.
  • The Romans understood the link between smell and sexual attraction. They used perfumes lavishly, including scents made with secretions of the civet cat and the sperm whale.
  • Food can influence sexual attraction and act as an aphrodisiac. One recent study showed men were more sexually aroused by the scents of certain foods particularly cinnamon buns than by traditional perfume.

I would like to thank all of you for your continued support and wonderful emails. As well as the patience many of you have shown dealing with the "little guy" . PLEASE keep passing the word for I have no doubt that it is only a matter of time and "BANISH" will be a "Household Word" where no one has to ever "smell" like smoke just because you or someone your around happens to enjoy a cigarette or cigar.  My ultimate goal will be that you all will be able to go into any store in this country and you'll find "BANISH" it right on the counter.

Take care and as always, I look forward to your calls.

~Sheree'
